Welcome to Woke Mind Press
I conceived the name Woke Mind Publishing on Nov 24, 2025. As of December, it’s been a one-man operation with one book, plenty of works-in-progress and no shortage of dreams. I made this crucial naming decision of using a potentially controversial name by my own volition, so I take all the credit and all the blame. Woke is neither offensive nor intentionally provocative. The rub is the many pundits who have their very careers invested in this term and how I am challenging their territory. Very soon after posting this name, I came to feel that Woke Mind Press sounds better because it has fewer syllables and the word press is associated with freedom of the press. Whether someone types publishing or press in the search box, it leads to this website.
It sounds silly to me whenever I hear pundits using the term woke in a pejorative sense. Somehow the pejorative stuck and is still in use, so I believe using the term to push the other way turns an insult into a badge of honor. My definition of woke is [crystal clear]: egalitarian, universalist, feminist, inclusive, nonviolent, super-charged / no-apologies-environmentalist vision for the future. Either that appeals to you or it doesn’t because I wouldn’t want you to waste any of your precious time participating in this forum if this isn’t your thing or the vibe just ain’t right.
Let’s get this over with and make it as simple as possible: We are not here to discuss feminism, environmentalism, patriarchalism. As far as this forum is concerned that is all well-documented conquered territory.
I invite a discussion about the term woke, yet I am by no means inviting a discussion of current affairs. The very purpose of this blog is to get away from current affairs and focus on solutions and visions for the future. I would prefer to steer any discussion toward political science rather than current politics which most of us are burnt out on anyway.
